In golf, a birdie is one under par. At a hens, a birdie is one of the girls, and tonight there are nine of you, bride included, which frankly sounds like a winning scorecard. Birdies and Cocktails is for the flock that can't sit still: the bride who would rather play than pose, and the friends who will happily trash-talk her the whole way round. Two games come first, then a finish that is all velvet and bubbles.
First, the fairway. Somewhere in the heart of the CBD, a famous course is about to meet a very confident flock, and you have two hours on the golf simulator to prove who the real birdie is. The equipment is all supplied, so the only warm-up needed is a bit of confidence. Watch for the friend who swears she has never played and then drives it straight down the middle. Watch even harder for the bride's swing, because when she connects, the whole flock is going to lose it. Camera ready, ladies. This is prime group chat material.
Feathers slightly ruffled, you stroll on to the second game. Our glam laneway cocktail lounge is hidden right in the heart of the city, all low light and plush velvet, and your own mixologist host is waiting with the shakers lined up for your group. It's an interactive masterclass where the shaking gets competitive fast, because of course it does. Each of you shakes and sips your way through three delicious cocktails, and the bride gets a round of applause for every single pour, whether it lands in the glass or not. Clink clink!
The share plates arrive at your reserved area as the class wraps up, just in time for the flock to settle in and relive the golf in forensic detail. Who was robbed by the simulator? Who is quietly claiming an eagle? It all gets settled here, one share plate at a time.
Then nobody has to fly anywhere. The lounge turns on the VIP charm, and your plush velvet booth is reserved for two hours with the cover charge waived, while custom neon signs and glittering pendants light up every angle. Now for the moment: a surprise bottle of bubbly swoops in for your hen. Let her pop the cork and hold it up for the whole flock. When the music takes over, the dance floor is waiting for the whole flock.
