On a map, most of Sydney looks about ten minutes away. The difficulty starts when the lovely collection of ideas you saved lives in four completely different parts of Sydney: a cruise from one wharf, dinner at Darling Harbour, something else on Oxford Street, then somebody has found a bar “only ten minutes away”.
Ten minutes for one person is not ten minutes for a hens group. If the itinerary needs transport, decide that while it is still an itinerary. If it does not, keep the route tight enough that everybody can stay in the same hens without spending the night travelling between it.

Sydney does hens in pockets, and the best days pick one rather than trying to do them all.
The CBD is the easy default: rooftops, dinners and dance floors. Darling Harbour is the waterfront version, with harbourside cocktail bars and dinners on the water. Sydney Harbour itself is the cruise, with the Bridge and the Opera House doing the scenery. Oxford Street and the Cross come into it when the package does. And the Hunter Valley is its own thing: a winery day out of the city, or the whole weekend.

Sydney has dates when half the country seems to have decided to celebrate at once: New Year’s Eve, school holidays and peak wedding season, when Saturdays and the best harbour and rooftop spaces go first. They do not make a hens impossible. They do make popular accommodation, private spaces and good Saturday times considerably more interesting.

Choose the base around the hens you are actually having. The CBD works beautifully when the package moves around central Sydney. Darling Harbour works for waterfront plans, cruises and a central weekend base. The Hunter Valley makes sense when the wineries are doing most of the work.
A cheaper apartment nowhere near the hens becomes surprisingly expensive in patience once everybody is trying to get back there after midnight. The accommodation should make the weekend easier. The hens should not spend its life commuting back to the accommodation.

Once you have a date, more notice means more choice, particularly for accommodation, private spaces and Saturday times, and on big Sydney dates like New Year’s Eve, school holidays and peak wedding season. A closer date is still worth asking about: a booking within three weeks of the hens can go ahead if everything is available, with the full amount paid when you book.
