Sip Sip Hooray Hens Weekend belongs to a bride whose girls have a lot of questions and fully intend to ask every one of them with a glass in hand. The proposal story alone needs a decent pour. There's a lot to get through. Luckily, the Yarra Valley has a lot of wine, and you've cleared the whole weekend.
The day belongs to the Yarra Valley. By the first winery, three separate conversations are already underway and the bride has leaned in with, “Wait, I haven’t told you what happened.” Excellent. You have all day.
Tastings at three wineries means three chances to find her new favourite drop, and three rounds of everyone insisting theirs was better. Swirl, sip, compare notes. Somebody declares a wine “very her” and the whole group agrees without knowing what that means. Nobody is watching the clock.
At one of the wineries, everyone gathers around the table for a long grazing lunch. Antipasto and pizzas land in the middle, hands cross the table, and lunch turns out to be really just an excuse to keep talking. Someone makes the bride tell the proposal story again for the girl who missed the start. She doesn't mind one bit.
Back in the city, the Ultimate Hens Bachelorette Pad Apartment is home for the night. There's a pool, spa, sauna and steam room in the building for anyone who wants to unwind after a day of tastings. Then getting ready becomes the next tasting session: outfits held up for a verdict, lipstick passed around for second opinions, the bride's hair getting more attention than any glass all day.
Then it's up to our rooftop bar. Your reserved space is set, every girl has a glass of bubbly, and share plates start arriving. The bride's bonus cocktail turns up next. Another round? The discounted cocktail menu makes that an easy yes, and there's no hurry to leave before close. Somewhere around the second plate, the bride says it again. “Wait, I haven’t told you what happened.” The winery stories, it turns out, have a sequel.
At the Bach Pad, shoes are kicked off and the couch debrief begins. Which wine was the winner? Who said what at lunch? The bride has one more story. Of course she does. You've officially turned one wine night into an entire weekend about her.
