Her Grid Girls Are Taking The Wheel. Racing To The Altar Weekend.
She's racing to the altar anyway. Might as well get some track time in first. If the bride has spent a few race weekends shouting strategy at the telly, Racing To The Altar Weekend finally puts her behind the wheel, with the girls right there on the grid beside her. Grid girls used to stand on the sidelines. Hers are in the karts.
First stop, the outdoor track, and it's just for your group. The karts line up, and a 10 minute qualifying race gives everyone a feel for the corners and settles who starts where. Then comes the 15 minute main race, and every single girl is out there for both. Suddenly every overtake matters, nobody gives up the inside line, and the bride discovers she has strong opinions about braking.
After the final lap, the Ultimate Hens Bachelorette Pad Apartment becomes the pit stop. Bags dropped, speaker on, and out come custom cookies with the bride's name on them, racing theme and all. They're almost too cute to eat. Almost. Then it's track hair to going out hair, makeup bags on every surface and a mirror queue running with pit crew efficiency.
Next, our bar by the river, sunglasses still on. There's a glass of bubbly each in your reserved area, and the bride gets the podium toast whether she won or not. Results are still being disputed. Nobody minds.
Our riverside restaurant comes next. The reserved table gets a fresh glass of bubbly each, plus the bride's cocktail, and tapas start landing. By now the race has been replayed several times, every questionable move has been investigated, and at least one person's version of events has become noticeably faster with each retelling. The official result says one thing. The table may have reached an entirely different conclusion.
Later, everyone heads back to the Bach Pad, shoes off and commentary on. Every overtake is relitigated from the couch, complete with hand gestures. Some race weekends are best watched from the sofa. This just wasn't one of them.
Somewhere between qualifying and the podium, it stops being about who crossed the line first. It's the bride with her girls right behind her, briefly in front, then behind again, and a story everyone will be retelling at the wedding.
