Some ideas land in the group chat and get a polite thumbs up. Pole is not one of them. The moment somebody suggested it for her hens, every girl was in before the bride had finished typing her reply. Spin Me Down The Aisle Weekend is your excuse to try something brand new together, then celebrate it properly in the city.
Day one begins at the Ultimate Hens Bachelorette Pad Apartment. Everyone settles into weekend mode, half excited and half pretending not to be nervous. There's something particularly fun about a day when none of you quite knows what the next few hours will look like. One thing you do know? You're all doing it together, with the bride right in the middle.
Then it's the studio and your private class. A glass of bubbly each comes first, for the nerves. Your My Ultimate Hens dance host starts right at the beginning, because beginners are welcome and nobody has to be good. Over 90 minutes you'll learn your first moves and discover the particular joy of nailing something you couldn't do five minutes ago.
Cue “one more try”. And another. Someone lands a move and the girls go off like it's a grand final. Someone else refuses to leave until she's got hers. And the bride? She can spin like a natural or simply hang on and laugh. Her girls will film both and call it a triumph.
Afterwards, our riverside restaurant pours a glass of bubbly for each girl at your reserved table, tapas land in the middle, and the bride gets a cocktail. Plates go round while the class is replayed move by move, photos are compared and full credit is handed out where it's due. That move someone couldn't quite get? She's still thinking about it.
Our laneway cocktail lounge is the last stop: no paying at the door, a VIP booth reserved in your name, a bottle of bubbly for the group. Toast the bride, settle in, then let the dancefloor make its case. Nobody is surprised when a little studio choreography sneaks into the night.
Later, back at the Bach Pad, it's photo review and debrief on the couch. Favourite moves, slow motion videos and a few newly discovered muscles making themselves known. At least one girl casually mentions she's already found a studio near home. You came for one class. Pole has other ideas.
